Rona was a beautiful woman who lived with her husband and their two sons in a little koingo beside the sea. Rona’s husband loved her dearly, but sometimes her bad temper and her angry way of growling at him and their boys upset them all. They loaded their nets, lines, hooks and bait into a canoe and paddled away. The next day, Rona began to prepare the hangi to cook the meal in. First, she cleaned and cut the ashes, embers and cooking stones from the pit dug into the ground that she would prepare the meal in. As it began to go dark and the heter cooking stones glowed red, Rona could hear her family singing as they returned across the boy in their canoe.  Rona was in so much pain, and so angry at the moon for hiding his light, that she shouted at him, ``POKOKOHUA”, which means “Boil your head!” This was a terrible curse, and a great insult.  When Rona’s family returned from their fishing trip, there was no sign of her. Their meal lay uncooked by the flickering flames of the oven. It wasn’t until they looked up at the night sky that they realised their angry wife and mother had been rude once too often. There, on the face of the full moon, was Rona, with the ngaio tree and gourds in her hands!

At 1:30pm Team 4 and Team 5 went to a magic show that happened last week on friday at school in the hall.  The magician did some funny magic tricks and everyone started to laugh.  It was fun. Emeline my friend, Emeline went up the stage and the magician did some tricks on Emeline and the whole crowd. When the magician was holding the wand it was straight but when Emeline was holding the wand it would just fall apart, everyone was laughing so hard that the magician kept doing funny tricks to Emeline. Willam went up the stage too, the magician put superhero clothes on and put some vitamin paper on the costume. Here are some vitamins that the magician said are vitamin B, vitamin A, vitamin B3, vitamin C and many more vitamins. The magician got a rubix cube and it was mixed up, but when he put it in the blox and shaked it, he pulled out the rubix cube and it was solved!

I really enjoyed how we learned about the 5 nutrients that are dairy, protein, grains, vegetables and fruits. My second favorite trick was when Emeline went up to the stage and she was doing magic tricks. My last favourite trick was when the rabbit came out of the cage.

swaimah Persuasive Text: Tattoo

 Introduction

I strongly believe that children under the age 18 should not be allowed to get a tattoo. They should not be allowed to get a tattoo because they can get hurt as it could be dangerous, tattoo ink can have chemicals in it, and tattoos might stretch because our bodies are still growing.

First paragraph

Firstly, children between the ages of 16 and 18 should not be allowed to have tattoos, but tattoos breach the skin, which means that skin infections and other complications are possible, including Allergic reactions and what happens if the gun machine or the hammer they can get really hurt and injured. Giving blood after recently getting a tattoo can be dangerous. It requires breaking the skin barrier, tattooing carries inherent health risks.

Second paragraph

Secondly, Poorly planned tattoos and piercings can cause all sorts of health problems. As tattoos have become more common, scientists have begun to study their health impacts. This body art might appear cool, but it can pose risks.

Final paragraph

Finally, Tattoos breach the skin, which means that skin infections and other complications are possible. This can occur even years after you get the tattoo.Tattoo dyes especially red, green, yellow and blue dyes can cause allergic skin reactions, such as an itchy rash at the tattoo site.

The conclusion

The conclusion is that kids under 18 are not allowed to get tattoos, because it is dangerous and the ink has chemicals.

Swaimah Retell: Creation Story

Once upon a time  Papatuanuku the earth mother, and Ranginui the sky father, they were both in love with each other. They never wanted to be separated in their whole life, they wanted to be together forever. They had many children, but they were squished together and they were angry because it was dark. The children had a meeting to discuss the separation of their parents. Tanemahuta did a handstand and used his legs to push his mother and father apart. He couldn’t do it himself, so his brothers helped. However, Tawhirimatea was angry and screamed so loud that he started to cry because he wanted his parents to be together forever, just like they wanted. The longing for his beloved, Ranginui the sky father would cry down his tears from the heavens, his tears would fill up the many crevices, and become many lakes, rivers and seas. Now, there was one brother that wasn’t happy that Tanemahuta had separated from his parents and his name was called Tawhirimatea, the god of the winds, the storm and rains. And he blew down his fury from the heavens and the perilous storms. “ Whiti mai te ra” means “ let the sun shine though” though as Tanemahuta did, it allowed light and life to come into the world.

Fia Fia earrings

Hi ladies and gentlemen. Last week me and my class made some earrings at maker space. It was fun and wonderful. There were lots of colours to use like Yellow, Green, Black, White and glass. I made my earrings out of the Green  because  It’s my favourite colour. For my design I pick a moon and a star together because it means Ramadan if you don’t know what that is that’s a time that you can’t drink or eat all the way when the sun set goes down and at 4:00 am is when you can eat up to 5:30 am. I made those earrings because it’s part of my  culture Afghanistan and because it means a lot to me and my family.
